Who's driving this thing?

"Writing a novel is like driving a car at night. You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole journey that way" (Or something like that, I'm quoting from memory here.)

I love this quote, from E.L. Doctrow, but I find it hard to trust in it. I have NO idea where this story about the dog pound is going. What if it's going nowhere? I'll have no submission for this month. And what will it say about me as a writer? That I'm crap? All washed up? That I'll never have another good idea? I know none of those is true, but it can certainly feel like that.

I guess I just have to let go and write, and see where the characters take me. But as you can see from my obsessive list making, I'm not exactly that type of person. :) Best Blogger Tips

Congratulations!! Welcome to the writer's club...this is when you truly become a writer--when the self-doubt hits. Everyone gets it, has had it, experiences it on a regular basis. How you get through it is what helps you develop and learn your process (I have to be convinced of this, otherwise I'd be crippled by the very same feelings). Hang in there, and keep writing! You're not alone...
