Some questions

I'm in the revising stage, and I know there are plenty of questions to ask your manuscript to get more insight into what needs changing.

The one's I've come up with so far are:
  • What is this story about?
  • What's at stake?
  • What is missing to make both of those answers apparent to the reader?

Please, please, please share with me some more questions! This is the first time in a while that I've started from true scratch on a story, and I'm feeling a little rusty...

-How has the main character changed/grown?
-Is this the best POV to tell the story from?
-Is dialogue unique to each character? Do the characters have distinct voices?
-Does the story begin and end in the "best" place?

Why should I care about the characters?

(This isn't meant to sound flip...but I know I need to care what happens...that doesn't mean I need to like all the characters, but I need to care enough about the story to keep reading.)

With the framework:

Where are the plot changes? How do they make me feel?

At this point, where are the loose ends, and where have I solved them?

Would I believe my characters if they were real?
