Time is on my side?

I spent a good chunk of time yesterday trying to figure out a way to make all the elements of my life work better, aka find time for everything. My first solution is that I've got to make writing a priority over everything else right now: socializing, going to see other writer's read, gardening, knitting, cleaning, my "day job", freelancing, etc. Above everything except my marriage (mushy, I know, but we do have to live with each other for the next 20,000 days or so). And I think this means that as much as I want to, I can't volunteer to teach ESL right now. I have to accept that this is just something I don't have time to do well right now, but something that I will go back to.

As these things go, a person in my writer's group sent me a link to a blog that will help fill one of the holes. I love seeing authors read and talk about writing. But it's very time consuming and probably not worth the investment. So I will be very picky about who I see, and constantly read this blog of author interviews instead: http://jenniferprado.blogspot.com/ Best Blogger Tips

Bug, I agree -- it has to be a priority. I don't consider it in competition with my marriage -- they are tied for first place. I wouldn't be in a marriage that didn't allow me to pursue writing. And neither would you, I'm sure.

Good for you, for making those hard choices! It's so tempting to try and do and be everything that we want to, and so difficult to spend time on the things that are important to us. *sigh* I struggle with that all the time...the word I most hate to say is "No."

Your writing will get stronger and stronger the more time you spend on it. Yay for putting it first! (outside of the marriage)

Thanks! Always nice to know that someone is reading the interviews. I enjoy coming up with the questions and the answers help me with my own writing projects...and authors enjoy talking to an audience of writers - who can "get" why it is we do this. Have a great weekend. Regards, Jennifer
