TGI Monday?

Another Sunday feeling out of sorts. Not sure what the problem is this time, but figured I'd post and see if that helps. FC and I had a nice writing date yesterday at Panera (great soup, difficult place to find!). I got out a very shitty first draft of my story.

Maybe that started my angst. First drafts are always so hard. I know in my head that I need to just get it out, but it's so hard not to be uber critical of myself at that stage, questioning what the hell the point of the story is, what the hell I'm trying to do writing in the first place.

Add that to the fact that my pain in the arse neighbors had a loud party last night while I was trying to spend a quiet evening at home, and you have one out-of-sorts Bug. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I can't believe I'm looking forward to Monday. Best Blogger Tips

I'm so jealous that you and FC got together for a writing date! [and that you have a first draft, even a shitty one, of your story]. My new writing is stalled and the deadline is creeping up!

Yes, don't forget that first drafts suck. And you probably need a bit of distance before you can be objective.

Unfortunately, I'm looking forward to going back to work tomorrow, too. Mommy needs to spend time with adults.

I'm so sorry that you're feeling down bug. Just know its true we do all go through it. Wish I could have been with you & FC too. And like ti, I also do not even have a 1st draft, so chin up sister, you're at least 2/3 there. Its tough on the days we're feeling low to remember that there's a reason we do it. Pretty soon you'll be up again. Try to keep in mind that its part of almost everyone's process to churn out a bunch of crap the first time. My heart's with you.

I know you're an Anne Lamott fan--remember her mantra: write shitty first drafts. Perhaps all of us should put that on our to-do lists:

Today--write shitty first draft.
Tomorrow--Revise.

I REALLY enjoyed our writing date--looking forward to next month's.

But here's an important question--how'd the craft fest go?? And is the Xmas tree gone??? :)
