For the creative writing class I am creating for my MFA program, I am assigning short stories to the class to study particular elements of story. Does anyone have any favorites where the characters are particularly well-drawn?
I'm thinking anything in Dubliners. Anything by Nabokov: A Russian Beauty stands out. No wonder my short stories don't happen any more. I haven't read a short story in years.

FYI, I decided to go with an Alice Munro story, Family Furnishings. :)

Thanks JVS! That reminds me to get a book of Nabokov shorts. I don't think I've read any of them!
oooh--Edith Wharton's "Roman Fever" has fantabulous characters, as does "Why I Live At the PO". Check 'em out.
Thanks Erin! I love why I live at the PO. Haven't read Roman Fever, but now I will!
