One reason I love the Boston Public Library

I am a huge fan of libraries. (Nerd alert!)

We went to my town public library a ton when I was a kid. My mom is a big reader and we would go together to get books for the both of us. (She later ended up working there.) Now, I'm a "friend" of the Jamaica Plain public library, meaning I donate to them so they can buy new books and maintain their falling apart building as best they can.

My absolute favorite thing about the library is that you can search their web site for the book you're looking for, and if any branch of the library (including some public school libraries) has it, you can order it and they'll deliver it to your local branch! How cool is that?

that I have three books waiting for me. What a treat I'll get this evening!! (FYI, I'll be reading: The Annie I just went online to seeDilliard Reader, Away by Amy Bloom, and A Home at the End of the World by Michael Cunningham.) Best Blogger Tips

You know the library is my favorite thing in the whole world. We too have the on line catalog where we can search and request books from all the libraries in the state of Maine. It is fabulous because when I read about a book on a blog, NPR, or another site I go directly to the library site and request it. I am at the library at least 3 times a week picking up books that are waiting for me. They even send me emails so that I know what has arrived.
Nerds rock!

LOL Tori. The librarian actually knows me and my husband by name, now. It's like we're in a small town, but we're really not. She even recommended the hair dresser I now go to. I love my beat-up little library. It makes me feel at home. Glad I'm not the only one!

I love that too and do it all the time. I just picked up a couple of books last week. And then you can renew on line. It's great, esp since I have NO MORE SPACE for new books unless they are absolutely must haves.

I LOVE the Boston library! Do they still say it is sinking, a few inches per year?

Actually, I love nearly any library. Here's why:
