I'm very bad about posting pics on the blog. For some reason, it seems like a big pain in the tush. But since I am doing too much thesis work to write anything much on the blog, here are some pics of baby gifts I knit earlier this year.

Knitting for the homeless

As some of you know, I am a somewhat obsessive knitter. I'm also concerned about what options the homeless have now that it's getting colder. So what better than a knit-a-thon to support Pine Street Inn of Boston, New England's largest resource for homeless men and women!

I am going to knit as many 9x9 squares as I can, and I and other Boston area knitters will assemble them into blankets, which will then be presented to the tenants of the Pine Street Inn residences.

My Saturday in pictures

Brian and I took a day off, and a day trip to Portland, where we visited an alpaca farm and drank some of the fine local beer. I also bought lots of yarn and finished a knitting project (which I'll post a pic of after it's been blocked).

Knitting pics

I'm very bad about remembering to take pictures of the things I knit before I give them away as gifts. When I do remember, I'm equally bad about actually getting the photos off the camera and online. So, here are some things I made for people for Christmas: some baby gloves, a bookworm bookmark, and an Ipod cover. Just wanted to share. Next week, I'll get a pic of the pocketbook I knit for myself and am quite proud of.

A night off

After reading about TI's fabulous plans for her day off, I just could
not make myself work last night. Instead I drank tea and knit.

And I started making my Chloe a new bed. (Brian has decided she can't sleep with us anymore since she monopolizing the bed. And the ones for sale at Petco, etc. are like hundreds of dollars. So I bought some foam and covered it in fabric I had from a previous project. Now all I have to do is get up the nerve to sew it together and put in a zipper. My sewing machine scares me. I feel around it like I did around computers 15 years ago--like I can somehow make the whole thing break by touching the wrong button.)

So marvelous. Though I'm not sure I'll be feeling the same way tomorrow night when I have to play catch up.
