Most craft books suggest not editing at all at first. Some even say write the first draft in one sitting. Yeah, right.Repeaterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05958922007263367129noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30540321.post-3181920977182459972007-02-24T15:13:00.000-05:002007-02-24T15:13:00.000-05:00That's a very ambitious plan. But I can see how committing to three hours of moving forward with the story is kind of freeing in a way, since at least that three hour time period is set aside for nothing but writing. I like bostonerin's way of thinking of it as a gift. I'm really excited to hear how you feel about it after you've done it a few times.TIhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11404607872558389013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30540321.post-18211910655125340282007-02-23T20:14:00.000-05:002007-02-23T20:14:00.000-05:00I know what you mean. Especially after some of those writing classes at BU, my inner editor can be very critical.

Here's the info on the MB event next week: http://www.mediabistro.com/events/view_event.asp?id=8452 I'm not on the email list, but I check the website obsessively (it just went up a few days ago). I'll let you know about the next book reading I attend!Susan Johnston Taylorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09225671002159447902noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30540321.post-1774732520021250952007-02-23T17:36:00.000-05:002007-02-23T17:36:00.000-05:00Wow! You'll uncover lots of your character's experiences and fears that you might not, were you to stop when you felt like it. (Of course, you might not *use* what you find, but that's ok).

Try to think of the time as a gift: a three-hour window of blissful writing time. Yay!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
